According to Golden State Warriors coach Don Nelson, seventh overall pick Stephen Curry is staying right where he was drafted.

Nelson ended the speculation by firmly declared the Warriors won’t trade Curry, quashing suspicions about Golden State’s intentions in selecting the former Davidson star.

“He can unpack his bags and relax,” Nelson said after welcoming Curry to Oakland. “He can buy a house. We drafted him because we think he’s a terrific player that fits right into our program. He ain’t going anyplace.”

The rumors had been flying high that the Warriors took Curry with the intention of including him in a trade with the Phoenix Suns that would have brought Amar’e Stoudemire to Golden State.

I can certainly see where Nelson is coming from, but it’s clear that the Warriors still want Stoudemire and the Suns want Curry in the deal. That being said, Nelson’s remarks are necessary. But who knows?
