Las Vegas Sports Betting
Las Vegas Sports betting has been a staple in the US for decades. With no other state having legal sports betting, Nevada has cornered the market on the industry and takes in millions of dollars in bets.
To be considered a top casino in Las Vegas, a sportsbook is a requirement. The Bellagio, Caesar’s palace, MGM Grand, and Harrah’s all have fully functioning sportsbooks and are considered among the leaders in the industry.
There are many forms of gambling that are available at these sportsbooks. The major sports all have betting lines and smaller, lesser known sports usually are covered at these locations as well.
The betting is not limited to sports. Entertainment and political betting is also popular in Las Vegas. Who will win elections, or which stars will win prestigious Grammy or Emmy awards are among the list of betting options.
In recent years, the Las Vegas sportsbooks have been hurt by the Internet. Although illegal in the US, offshore sportsbooks have stolen away many of the gamblers from land based operations. Currently, these Las Vegas casinos would most likely be first in line should the laws change in the US and online sports gambling became legal and regulated.
Other states have been contemplating making sports gambling legal. The casino laws have relaxed in most states and sportsbooks could be next on the list for states to try and generate income during stressful economic times in the US.
The Super Bowl is the most gambled on individual sporting event in the US. It has become commonplace for over $80 million to be wagered each year on the NFL’s biggest game. That figure represents the over 175 sportsbooks in the state of Nevada.
