On Tuesday, Landon Donovan scored the winning goal in the first minute of injury time to vault the United States to the second round at the World Cup with a 1-0 win over Algeria.

With the U.S. just moments away from elimination, Donovan knocked in a rebound for one of the biggest goals in American soccer history.

The win, gave the United States a first place finish in Group C and their World Cup victory in eight years.

It also was the U.S.’s fifth shutout, ever, in World Cup play. The Americans finished pool play with a record of 1-0-2 and the group win was just their first since 1930.

They will now face the runner-up of Group D on Saturday.

It’s a fine day for U.S. Soccer.
