United States Men Surge Into Gold Medal Hockey Game

Coming in to the Olympics, the United States Men’s Hockey team was nothing more than an after thought when the favorites were discussed.
Now, a 2002 Gold-Medal round rematch between team Canada and the U.S. is certainly not going to disappoint.
Friday against Finland in the semi-finals, the United States absolutely trounced the Fins 6-1.
The U.S. got off to a furious start when they scored all six of their goals before the 13 minute mark of the first period.
Finnish goalie Miikka Kiprusoff was the tournaments best net-minder (statically anyway) coming into this one. Kiprusoff and the Fins had only let up four goals in the entire tournament before they played the Americans.
By the time Kiprusoff left the game 10:08 in, the U.S. had a 4-0 lead on only seven shots.
