Thome Should Add Some Pop To Twins Line-up
Posted Under: Baseball Betting
Jim Thome and his 564 career home runs have signed a one-year contract with the Minnesota Twins worth reportedly about $1.5 million.
Even though he’ll be more of a bench player than the middle-of-the-lineup-force he’s been for 19 seasons, Thome was eager to join one of his longtime rivals. The 39 year old slugger has hit 57 homers against the Twins during his career.
Now he will try to even out the ratio.
Thome will be used primarily as a pinch-hitter and a part-time DH.
Jason Kubel is coming off a career-best season as the regular designated hitter, and the Twins are committed to Delmon Young as their left fielder. Justin Morneau is entrenched at first base.
The Twins have put themselves in a really good position, having a guy like Thome to fill in where ever he is needed.
