Sean Avery Takes Step Back Toward NHL With Hartford Wolf Pack

Sean Avery is still the property of the Dallas Stars, but has been assigned to the New York Rangers AHL affiliate Hartford Wolf Pack.
Back In December, Avery was suspended by the league for what they called “conduct detrimental to the league or the game of hockey.” Avery made angry comments toward Flames’ defenseman Dion Phaneuf and Kings forward Jarret Stoll saying they had fallen in love with his “sloppy seconds.” Phaneuf and Stoll were date ex-girlfriend’s of Avery’s.
Apparently, Dallas has washed their hands of Avery. After he served his six-game suspension, the Stars announced that Avery would not be returning to the team.
The Stars waived Avery on Saturday, and once cleared was assigned to the Wolf Pack. Could this mean the Rangers are interested in Avery? Could this be a unofficial try-out for New York?
Rangers General Manager Glenn Sater has said that Avery was a good player for New York during his time in the Big Apple, but would not comment any more than that.
