Rivera Gets His 500th Save As Yanks Sweep Mets

New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera got his 500th save on Sunday night and joins Trevor Hoffman and his 571 saves as the only major leaguers with 500.
Starter Chien-Ming Wang won his first game in more than a year and Rivera got four outs, securing the Yankees’ fifth consecutive victory and a three game sweep of the New York Mets at Citi Field.
There is not much worse for Mets fans than to suffer through a three game sweep at home against the Yankees. At least in the final game Sunday night, it was close. The Yankees came across town and kicked their little brother’s behind this weekend outscoring the Mets 18-3 in the Series.
It is hard to believe that this can be blamed on injuries. Yes, it is true the Mets are without Jose Reyes, Carlos Beltran and Carlos Delgado, all on the disabled list. But at some point the players left out there need to play some ball.
This was one serious gut check form the boys in Queens and they failed miserably.
