Preakness Stakes winner Rachel Alexandra worked a half-mile in and galloped out a fifth furlong in 1 minute, 4 seconds, on a sloppy track this Wednesday.

Owner Jess Jackson said he was uncertain of the Preakness champion’s status for next month’s Belmont Stakes, but did like the way the filly ran.

Trainer Steve Asmussen has advised Jackson to wait on a decision because of the rain and track conditions.

“It was exactly what I had hoped to see, she was sound, relaxed and happy during and after,” Asmussen said. “Although the rain interfered with it a little bit.”

Having etched a place in horse racing history with her victory the Preakness, Rachel Alexandra can add another footnote to her illustrious career in the Belmont. No filly has ever won two legs of the Triple Crown.
