Not Retired For Long - Iverson Back In Philly
Posted Under: Basketball Betting
The Philadelphia 76ers have announced the signing if Allen Iverson.
The 34-year-old Iverson announced his retirement last week after an ill-fated stint with the Memphis Grizzlies. The 10-time All-Star was NBA MVP in 2001 when he led the Sixers to the NBA finals.
Because of the recent injury to Lou Williams that is expected to side-line the 23-year-old guard for as much as eight weeks, the Sixers felt that they needed to fill the void. Williams had averaged 17.4 points and 5.1 assists. He broke his jaw in Philadelphia’s loss to Washington on Nov. 24.
Who better than Iverson?
In 10 seasons with the Sixers, Iverson posted the highest scoring average in team history with 28.1 points per game. He was second on the points list and holds the record for 3-pointers. He was a seven-time All-Star, won four scoring titles and two All-Star game MVPs.
So, dust off those No. 3 jerseys Philly fans, A. I. is back.
