North Dakota State TE And NFL Hopeful Give Hero’s Effort

North Dakota State tight end Jerimiah Wurzbacher spent Tuesday trying to put up 225 pounds as many times as he could to impress NFL Scouts, however, Wednesday was a little different.
Wurzbacher and many other North Dakota State students spent a good part of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday furiously filling and hauling sandbags to help stop potential flood waters from damaging lives and property along the Red River in Fargo, N.D.
The Students joined local and national rescue forces in building and fortifying reinforcements in frigid weather.
“The pro day was Tuesday and that Wednesday morning, we went out and were sand-bagging the whole day,” Wurzbacher said. “Guys on the football team were out there three days in a row for up to 10 hours at a time.”
Far too often we hear stories about college and pro players getting into trouble; drugs, theft, assault or worse. It is extraordinary to learn about these athletes putting their lives on hold to help others. It is a testament to the character of Wurzbacher. I hope NFL scouts consider his work off the field this week as well as on when they are deciding if they want this young man on their team come draft-day.
