New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez’s status for this Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons remains uncertain after he returned to practice for the first time since spraining his right knee.

Head coach Rex Ryan said he was going to wait on deciding his starter for Sunday until Thursday morning. I guess they don’t want to rush their rookie back into the line-up. Ryan said Sanchez felt and looked good after practicing, but they will wait to see if there is any soreness in the morning.

Sanchez will be examined by team doctors Thursday to make sure there’s no stiffness or swelling in the knee.

Sanchez sprained the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee against Buffalo on December 3rd and sat out against Tampa Bay on Sunday.
