LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers said earlier this week that he was thinking of changing his No. 23 next year to honor Michael Jordan and he thinks no one else should every wear 23.

MJ spoke out today about LeBron’s comments.

“It was very nice, I totally understand that,” Jordan said. “But I’m a guy that says there is no one great player in the NBA. The NBA lasts a lot longer than one particular person so I understand what his point is.”

Major League Baseball did this a few years back with Jackie Robinson’s No. 42. Take nothing away from Jordan, but he is not Jackie Robinson.

Jordan has always been a class act and he said the right thing. In fact, I don’t think anything is wrong at all with the entire situation.

James’ sentiment was very nice and it’s a good thing to see LeBron showing some respect to a player that was and still is the greatest of all time.

Jordan thinks that if his number was retired by the NBA, then they league would have to do it for so many more like; Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Bill Russell.
