Mets Drop Fifth Straight But Get Goods News

Even ace left-hander Johan Santana could help the New York Mets end their four game skid as they loss 6-3 to the Milwaukee Brewers; the Mets fifth in a row.
However, the Mets did get some good new about Carlos Beltran’s ailing knee.
A second examination of the All-Star’s bruised right knee also indicated surgery is not required. The opinion from Dr. Richard Steadman in Vail, Colo., was the same as the Mets’ medical staff. Beltran likely will be out through the All-Star break while waiting for the bruise to subside, but will not have to go under the knife.
“Yesterday, we had a lot of questions as to whether there was something new or something else in there,” said Mets Assistant GM John Ricco. “The word we got from the second opinion was that, no it was pretty much what we knew it was.”
For New York, now it’s just a matter of how quickly Beltran will be able to heal.
