Manny Ramirez didn’t talk to reporters, but he did go about his baseball business Saturday night.

Ramirez went 2-for-2 with a walk before leaving the game after the fifth inning. He’s preparing to rejoin the Dodgers on July 3 in San Diego after serving a 50-game steroid suspension.

In his first at bat, Manny homered off left-hander Nick Schmidt sending the second pitch he saw over the left field wall. After a walk in the third, Ramirez single in the fifth.

Then he departed the ballpark, stopping briefly to sign autographs.

For Dodgers manager Joe Torre, he was pleased to here about the long ball but is more concerned about Manny getting comfortable at the plate.

“The whole thing about him is at-bats,” Torre said. “I mean, the fact that he hit a home run makes me feel good. But it doesn’t matter to me what his numbers are. The main thing we’re interested in is just getting him back in rhythm.”
