Los Angeles Clippers Take Blake Griffin No. 1 Overall
Posted Under: Basketball Betting
As expected the L.A. Clippers took Oklahoma Sooners forward Blake Griffin with the first pick in the 2009 NBA Draft.
Griffin was the consensus college player of the year. He led the nation with 14.4 rebounds per game and averaged more than 22 points per game last season for Oklahoma.
The Clippers feel that they are getting an excellent “NBA ready” player that will be a nice fit to their basketball team. But can Griffin help “the other” Los Angeles team take the next step toward success for the Clippers.
Lets face it. Winning in Los Angeles is not going to be easy. The Clippers have to deal with, year in and year out, playing in the shadow of the Lakers.
Griffin is a winner, but only time will tell if he can bring that to the next level. Talent wise, the Clippers feel they have a good chance at becoming a better NBA team. There are pieces in place.
Eric Gordon emerged as a solid player at the shooting guard position averaging close to 20 points per game as a starter. With young players like Griffin and Gordon the Clippers are filled with optimism.
