Kobe Bryant sat out the Lakers’ game against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday with a sore left ankle.

Although, Bryant was on the active roster, he did not dress and was not with the team on the Lakers bench.

Bryant has missed the Lakers last two games with a sprained left ankle. Bryant first injured the ankle seven games ago on January 29th against the 76ers after a collision with Philadelphia’s Elton Brand.

Should the Laker fans be overly concerned with Bryant’s absence? Well, yes and no.

Missing the game against the Jazz was not a big surprise. Lakers coach Phil Jackson didn’t expect Kobe to be able to go. Most think Bryant is the best player in the NBA and anytime you lose a talent like that; it is cause to worry.

However, the Lakers were able to take care of Utah in Salt Lake and they also beat San Antonio on Monday night.

Right now, the Lakers have a 5 game lead over Denver in the Western Conference. They are doing the right thing for the long term in not pressing Bryant to play.

If they keep winning without him, let him rest the ankle as much as he needs to.
