Jets Thomas Jones To Show-Up For OTA’s
Posted Under: Football Betting
New York Jets running back Thomas Jones has rejoined his teammates after boycotting voluntary workouts because of a contract dispute.
Jones led the AFC with 1,312 yards rushing last season. He averaged more 4.5 yards per carry and scored 13 touchdowns in 2008. Jones is entering his third season of a four year $20 million deal in which he made over $13 million in the first to years of the contract. Now Jones slated to make just $900,000 in base salary in 2009.
Seems to be a no-brainer. After one of his finest seasons as a pro, Jones deserves more money right?
Not so fast. For some reason I don’t remember Jones giving back any cash following his 2007 campaign when he rushed for just 3.6 yards per carry and scored only one touchdown and the Jets were a dismal 4-12.
Why do these players think they should get more money just for doing their job?
Jones needs to SHUT UP and play football. Play-out his contract and remember that he is getting paid to play a game in an economy that is seeing the highest unemployment rate in years.
