Somewhere new Vikings quarterback Sage Rosenfels is dancing a jig right now and he will be for at least a week or so. The Minnesota Vikings acquired the veteran back-up from the Houston Texans for a 2009 fourth round draft pick and promptly gave him a two-year extension worth $9 million.

Apparently, they are going to make him the starter. Rosenfels has started a grand total of 32 games over his 7 seasons in the league, he has never played in more than 9 games in any season and really hasn’t proven anything. Vikings coach Brad Childress must have absolutely no confidence in Tavaris Jackson.

Rosenfels played in 6 games last year for the Texans and threw 10 interceptions to just six touchdowns. It is true that he has shown flashes of good things on the football field, but nothing consistent. I just don’t understand the move.

Minnesota is the defending NFC North Champion. Do they really think this is the move that will get them deep into the playoffs? Granted, Tavaris Jackson was horrific in the playoffs against Philadelphia, but I just don’t think Rosenfels is the answer.
