According to reports, Chicago Cubs catcher Geovany Soto has been informed by the International Baseball Federation that he tested positive for marijuana at the World Baseball Classic.

In responce to the report, Soto issued a statement saying that he acknowledges his inappropriate behavior, however, he wants to assure his family and his fans that this was in isolated incident.

That’s reassuring, I can’t say that I ever heard anyone come right out and say, “Ok, you got me, I’m a pot-head.”

“I am fully dedicated to the game of baseball and my teammates,” said Soto. “I apologize for any distraction and embarrassment this may cause them.”

Major League Baseball says does not regularly test for marijuana since it’s not considered a performance-enhancing drug and that neither the Cubs nor MLB will penalize Soto.

Huh? Is marijuana not illegal? Maybe Baseball needs to take a look about how they will handle things like this. If Soto was in the NFL, we would surely see a suspension to follow.
