Eagles Fire Stadium Worker Over Facebook Posting

The Philadelphia Eagles have fired Dan Leone, a gameday stadium worker at Lincoln Financial Field, for blasting the Eagles on a Facebook post over the teams inability to re-sign Brian Dawkins.
Facebook is a free-access social networking website that is sweeping the nation. However, users apparently need to watch what they say on the message board.
The 32-year old west gate chief was unhappy with his favorite team for letting Brian Dawkins slip away in free-agency to the Denver Broncos. “Dan is (expletive) devastated about Dawkins signing with Denver,” said Leone on his Facebook wall. “Dam Eagles R Retarted!!”
Aside from Leone ability to use Spell Check, the big question swirling around is whether or not the Eagles organization was justified in letting their employee go over this.
Well, if you work for Wal-Mart and you go around saying in a public forum that “Wal-Mart Sucks,” one would think that you could be fired over something like that. But, this is a little different. Leone is an Eagles fan and there would have to be a fine line between his relationship with the team as an employee and as a fan.
If a stadium worker posts that the facility is falling apart and the team is stupid for not fixing it, then maybe this would be deserved. But this is a fan in a love-hate relationship with his team. How can he be fired for that?
