According to reports, Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington will miss the rest of the year after suffering a right shoulder injury on Sunday in San Diego.

The team has said that Pennington’s MRI report has been sent to for a second opinion to orthopedic specialist Dr. James Andrews, the doctor that performed two shoulder surgeries on the quarterback in 2004 and 2005.

Second year backup, Chad Henne is expected to be the new Miami starter. Rookie Pat White, who has only seen action in the Dolphins’ Wildcat package thus far, is the only other QB on the roster.

Henne would be the 14th starting quarterback for Miami since Dan Marino retired following the 1999 season. In the most extensive action of his brief career Sunday, Henne struggled with his accuracy. Henne went 10-for-19 for 92 yards with the one interception in relief.
