Did The Patriots Get Enough For Vrabel And Cassel?

This one might leave some Patriots fans scratching their heads. After leading New England to an 11-5 record in relief on injured quarterback Tom Brady, Matt Cassel has been traded to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The deal includes, quarterback Matt Cassel and veteran linebacker Mike Vrabel going to the Chiefs in exchange for a second round pick (34 overall) in the up-coming 2009 NFL Draft. Apparently, the Patriots are not as concerned about the health of Tom Brady as we thought they were.

This is great move for the Chiefs and new General Manager Scott Pioli. They get much needed leadership in their locker room from 11-year vet Mike Vrabel and an instant answer at the quarterback position with Cassel.

As for New England, the 34th pick overall could be very valuable, but compared to the caliber of players they gave up, critics will be thinking that they could have gotten a lot more. Could Bill Belichick getting senile?

We all know that this is about cap room, but their is no doubt that Matt Cassel alone is worth a high draft pick. Maybe this is just a nice parting gift to Scott Pioli.
