After another disappointing season, the Houston Astros fired manager Cecil Cooper and third-base coach Dave Clark was named interim manager.

General manager Ed Wade said the change couldn’t wait until the end of the season, however things didn’t chance over-night as the Astros lost their eighth straight, 7-3 to the St. Louis Cardinals, to drop to 70-80.

The 59 year old Cooper has managed the Astros since August of 2007 and Houston was a game over five hundred at 171-170 in two seasons under Cooper.

Wade also says that more changes could be coming for the franchise. The Astros are just four years removed from its only World Series appearance in 2005 when they lost to the Chicago White Sox.
