Monday night in Hartford the # 1 ranked U-Conn Huskies take on the 4th ranked Pitt Panthers in a marque Big East College Basketball match-up. Odds makers are calling Connecticut about a 3 point favorites with the total sitting at 134.5.
At 24-1, the Huskies will be looking for their 14th straight win while the 23-2 Panthers will be trying to get back to the top spot. A Pittsburgh victory would surely shake-up the rankings.
The Panthers are 16-0 at home, but have struggled a bit on the road losing at Louisville and Villanova. It won’t be any easier at the XL center tonight. U-Conn has been extremely tough at home, their only loss coming back in December to then-rank number 8 Georgetown.
Tonight U-Conn will be without one of their top scorers as guard Jerome Dyson was lost for the season earlier this week. In the wake of Dyson’s injury center Hasheem Thabeet has elevated his game setting new career highs with 25 points and 20 rebounds in a 62-54 win at Seton Hall on Saturday.
This one should be fun to watch.
