Braves Look To Add Damon To Their Outfield

According to Major League Baseball sources, the Atlanta Braves have offered free-agent outfielder Johnny Damon a one-year deal.
Atlanta’s offer is believed to be for one year and include deferred money, however Damon’s agent, Scott Boras, said he is seeking at least a two-year deal.
Damon is going to be hard pressed to find a team that is will to make that kind of commitment to an aging outfielder with diminishing speed and no arm, especially Atlanta.
They added another former Yankees outfielder in December when it acquired Melky Cabrera in a five-player deal. Nate McLouth is the center fielder.
Matt Diaz is expected to get a lot of playing time, possibly in left and Manager Bobby Cox said he is prepared to give 20-year-old outfield prospect Jason Heyward a chance to win a starting job in right.
Atlanta may not be the best fit for Damon.
