Betting Nightmares In The NCAA Tournament

As the first night of Sweet-Sixteen action came to close on Thursday night, another No. 1 seed has fallen to the upset bug as Syracuse has lost to Butler, 63-59.

With only twelve teams left alive, only the East Region has played out like it was supposed to. Kentucky will play West Virginia on Saturday night in a 1 vs. 2 match-up.

Many bettors have been taking a beating thus far, the ones that have been staying with the favorites anyway.

Tonight in Salt Lake, when Butler shocked the Orange in a four point win, the Bulldogs showed everyone watching why coaches everywhere preach to their that they need to play a full 40 minutes.

The Bulldogs held Syracuse, a team that looked like a national championship contender for the last four months, without a point for almost all of the game’s final five minutes.

I’m not sure what bettors look for now, but in what is turning into an upside-down NCAA tournament, maybe they should start expecting that every key play down the stretch will be made by the underdogs.
