According to reports coming out of Tampa, Alex Rodriguez is getting closer to a return to Yankee Stadium.

The slugger will make another major advance in his return from right hip surgery on Thursday when he gets set to take part in his first live action since hip surgery.

Rodriguez is expected to get four or five at-bats as a designated hitter in an intrasquad game at the Yankees’ Minor League training complex in the Sunshine State.

New York had been sticking to their original projected return date of May 15th, but Dr. Marc Philippon, the man that performed the procedure, thinks that Rodriguez could rejoin the Yankees in just 10 days.

“He’s looking good. Looking awesome,” Philippon told reporters.

The Yankees surely want him back on third-base as soon as possible, however they should be careful that they rush him back to soon. If A-Rod is forced to struggle with this injury all year it could spell doom for the Boys from the Bronx.
